Tanushree Dutta Urges Hrithik Roshan To Take A Stand As Vikas Bahl Gets A Clean Chit From Internal Committee On #MeToo Allegations

When Tanushree Dutta appeared on that fateful interview, no one would have seen what was coming. As she accused Nana Patekar of harassing her years ago on the sets of Horn Ok Please, she started one of the most prolific movements in the country, especially in the entertainment industry.

While many big and small names have come out in the wake of the #MeToo movement, one of the earliest and the most shocking case was that of Vikas Bahl, who was accused by one of the female staffs of Phantom Films of gross sexual misconduct. Vikas was already a popular name with films like Queen to her credit and was one of the partners at Phantom that was owned by him, Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena. After the grave allegations the production company was shut down and Hrithik Roshan’s film Super 30, that was being directed by Bahl at the time was caught in the middle. Following the allegations, Bahl was immediately removed from the film.

An internal committee was set up to investigate the matter and recently the committee has come up with their report in which they have given Bahl a clean chit. The police investigation, however, on the case is still on-going.

As soon as the news of Vikas Bahl receiving a clean chit from the internal committee filtered in, Tanushree Dutta, who spearheaded the movement in Bollywood did not shy away from expressing her displeasure. She said, “This is Ghor kalyug! What is this Reliance committee? Who are the members of this committee? So Reliance committees are giving clean chits while law and order and police investigation is still pending??? Of course all these committees will give clean chits. They are made up of such people. Clean chit is valid only when police or judiciary of India gives it. Rest is corruption”

Talking about the issue of the survivors silence, Tanusree opined, “So if the victim didn’t press charges only how a clean chit is possible? It’s an internal complaints committee…such committees have been operating for ages clearing rapists, molesters and harassers. This is just a PR stunt to get image control, so these weirdos (MeToo accused) can get back to business. And the victim not pressing charges is not surprising given the shame, stigma and hassle of a court case.”

Tanushree also urged Hrithik Roshan to take a stand on the issue. She said, “India needs to buckle up and our Bollywood stars more much more responsible as millions look up to them as their idol. Reinstating someone accused of such heinous acts is not acceptable. Come on. Hrithik. I thought you were different!! Take a stand.”

While there is no way for us to know what really transpired, we as the citizens of the country have faith in judiciary and police and can only hope that nothing but justice would prevail.
