Raveena Tandon reveals why she never spoke about adopting her two daughters at 21, kept them away from media glare
Raveena on keeping her daughters away from media
Updated : October 13, 2021 09:39 PM ISTRaveena Tandon was a mother at 21 at the peak of her career in Bollywood. The actress had adopted two daughters Pooja and Chhaya in 1995 but kept the news under wraps for several years and kept her daughters away from the media glare.
The actress has now opened up about why she did not announce her motherhood to the world and also has revealed what prompted her to finally talk about it. Raveena told The Free Press Journal, “When I adopted my girls, I kept it under wraps because there were a lot of contrary views. The media scene wasn’t what it is today. In fact, it was nasty back then. There was a lot of yellow journalism during those days. A lot of people would create a controversy out of innocent things. Hence, I preferred to keep them out of the media glare. I did not want adverse reactions from people like, ‘Is she doing this for publicity?’”

Hailed for stirring positive communication about adoption, Raveena revealed it was the reason behind her finally opening up about Pooja and Chhaya. She said, “A lot of NGOs advised me to speak about it. They wanted me to set an example by talking about adoption. Their encouraging comments gave me the courage to speak about adopting girls.”
Ranveena’s two daughters are now married and share a close bond with her biological children Rasha and Ranbir. The actress is married to producer Anil Thadani and is already a grandmother.
