Ranbir Kapoor to play Ram opposite Hrithik Roshan's Ravan in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana? Here’s what we know

Hindi film industry’s heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor has been quite busy juggling two of his much awaited projects-- Brahmāstra co-starring Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt, and Luv Ranjan’s upcoming romantic comedy opposite Shraddha Kapoor. Well according to latest buzz, Ranbir is currently in talks with filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari for his three-part 3D epic Ramayana. For the uninitiated, Bollywood’s Greek God Hrithik Roshan has been approached to play the role of demon king Ravana in this film, and things between him and the makers are as good as final.

According to a report shared by Peeping Moon, Ranbir has been offered the role of Lord Rama. A source was quoted saying, “Nitesh Tiwari is looking for the best-in-class actor who can completely devote himself to the character of Ram, and he believes Ranbir Kapoor perfectly fits the bill as he has that charming presence Nitesh is specifically seeking for in an actor. Ranbir is thrilled about this offer and will take a call after the full narration. He hasn't given his nod yet, however, it's very likely that he would okay the project.”

Before Ranbir, this character was offered to South superstar Mahesh Babu. However, the actor politely turned down the offer and said yes to SS Rajamouli’s next instead. Backed by Madhu Mantena, Allu Aravind and Namit Malhotra, Ramayana is expected to go on floors by mid 2022. The official announcement, on the other hand, is being planned for this Diwali.
