Kartik Aaryan starrer Freddy to go on floors next week; Veere Di Wedding director Shashanka Ghosh will helm the project

A few months ago it was announced that Kartik Aaryan is no longer a part of Karan Johar’s ambitious project Dostana 2. Soon reports began doing the rounds stating that the heartthrob has also walked out of Ajay Bahl’s Freddy, which was to be backed by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. Later, sources suggested that the actor had parted ways with the project earlier this year but there was no bad blood between him and the team. Reports also stated that the makers wanted changes in the script but director Bahl was clear that he won’t make any.

Well according to the latest report shared by Pinkvilla, Kartik is still very much a part of Freddy. But instead of Bahl, Veere Di Wedding director Shashanka Ghosh has been roped in to helm the film, which will go on floors in the first week of August. A source was quoted saying, “All through the last 3 months, the makers have been working on pre-production and other aspects of Freddy. While Ajay Bahl was supposed to be the director before, the film will now be helmed by Shashanka Ghosh, who last directed Veere Di Wedding.”

The report further revealed that Ekta Kapoor will be producing Freddy along with Jay Shewakramani. Kartik will reportedly juggle the filming with the shoot of Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in Mumbai. However, details about the leading lady are still under wraps. For the uninitiated, earlier reports had suggested that Katrina Kaif has been locked opposite Kartik. Guess we’ll just have to wait patiently for the official announcement.
