Hrithik Roshan Reveals Why He Said Yes To Jodhaa Akbar
Updated : February 16, 2021 11:09 AM ISTJodhaa Akbar is one of Bollywood’s grandest attempts at bringing to life the Mughal era by filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker. On his birthday which falls on the cusp of the film’s release actor Hrithik Roshan took to social media to dedicate a special post revealing why he agreed to do the film when he himself couldn’t envision himself doing the part.
Hrithik who added a gem to his filmography by playing the Mughal king Akbar in this 2008 film opposite Aishwarya Rai, revealed that Jodha Akbar was a difficult film and he was scared when Ashutosh Gowariker approached him for the part.
In his long post he wrote, “Man this movie was difficult. I was shit scared when Ashutosh Gowarikar offered it to me. Couldn’t understand how he could see someone like me commanding 10,000 soldiers. But then that’s what a director does. He envisions what you can’t. And that’s the reason I did the film. More than the script or story, it was for experiencing what this impossibility would do to me, how it would change me, make me stronger perhaps.”

Talking about his take away from the experience Hrithik added, “What I learnt was that to do strong things, you don’t need to be strong in the beginning! In fact the decision of wanting to be strong comes before. And it MEANS having to choose that which is beyond your ability at the time of choosing. Trusting that the experience itself will do the rest. The challenge then itself creates the stronger you. It’s Magic. Try it.”
The actor went on to wish Aushtosh Happy Birthday at the end of his post.
Jodhaa Akbar which was essentially a love story released on 15 February 2008 and went on to gross Rs. 77.85 crores domestically according to Box Office India.
