Firoz Nadiadwala says Priyadarshan abandoned Hera Pheri
Updated : August 15, 2021 12:33 AM ISTOne of the films that Priyadarshan is known for, and is loved for is Hera Pheri. In fact, even now, he is asked when the third part of the film would be out. However, in a recent interview, producer Firoz Nadiadwala claimed that Priyadarshan had actually left the film midway. He also added that the final film that we got to see was absolutely different from what the director had given them.
In an interview with Mid Day, Firoz Nadiadwala said, "He gave me a film with a runtime of three hours and 40 minutes. His version was full of depressing scenes; a lot of the humorous dialogues were deleted. He was absent during the background music recording and dubbing.” He further said that the actual work began after Priyadarshan abandoned the project and said, “(Neeraj) added a lot of punchlines. We deleted the sad scenes. We did a lot of improvisations during the dubbing and editing to make it what the audience knows it by today."

Priyadarshan did see the final film before release during a special screening. Firoz revealed, "This was the first time he watched the final cut, which was completely different from what he had [given]. The film, which the audiences saw, was the director’s cut in the sense that the director was cut from the final version.” He also said that the director tried to convince the cast to say no to sequel.
That's quite a revelation. We wonder what Priyadarshan would have to say about it.
