Ananya Panday And Ishaan Khatter’s Khaali Peeli To See A Direct Digital Release; Deets Inside

Due to the coronavirus lockdown, many filmmakers decided to opt for a direct digital release for their upcoming films instead of waiting for theatres to reopen. However, there were still some projects which were expected to hit theatres first, such as Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter’s Khaali Peeli. Earlier reports suggested that the romantic actioner will be one of the first few films to release once the theatres reopen. Well as the current situation of the pandemic is not really improving, fans might be able to watch Khaali Peeli on an OTT platform after all.

In a report shared by Mid-Day, a source close to the project revealed that the post-production work on the romantic action thriller has been going on in full swing since the past few months and just a few more sequences are left to be shot with Ananya and Ishaan. Director Maqbool Khan intends to film the portions around August 20^th and is currently busy zeroing in on an indoor studio for the two-day shoot. The source went on to add, “Khaali Peeli is a typical masala entertainer. Ali sir has initiated talks with streaming platforms for its direct-to-web release.”

Confirming the same to the portal, co-producer Ali Abbas Zafar said that the team will be shooting in adherence with the safety guidelines. He went on to add that the film is otherwise edited and ready. A remake of the 2018 Telugu film Taxiwaala, Khaali Peeli also features Jaideep Ahlawat in a prominent role.
