The film will be Akshay’s first theatrical release since the pandemic struck and while other big films like Shershaah and Bhuj: The Pride of India stick to their plans of OTT release which have become more comman in the past year and a half.
Akshay in a recent interview spoke about the digital releases and how the OTT platforms have expanded avenues for the entertainment industry. According to the actor in the industry is has now become difficult to find ‘character actors’ since the boom of OTT and said that have fewer dates to give out than big stars.

Talking to Indian Express Akshay said that pandemic accelerated the popularity of the OTT platforms and actors are getting much more visibility through shows and films on the medium. If today, you want to cast a character actor, even if he is a little famous, he doesn’t have dates. There are many such people. You can get the biggest star’s date but not of character actors,” the bell Bottom star said.
He also said that the boom has made the industry more democratic and producers don’t wait around for stars and their dates to plan projects. Akshay, however, has no dearth of film projects and said that if he likes a film he finds time to work on it. The actor has seven big films in his kitty at the moment most of which were announced during the pandemic period.
Speaking about himself Akshay added, “I don’t want to miss out on anything. If a good script comes to me, I am doing the film. I am not going to be like, ‘Oh I don’t have dates. Please wait for me,’ because I know he (producer) won’t wait. So, stop showing off your star power because there’s nothing called star power. The power is only in the script. If you are getting a good script, just take it.”
After Bell Bottom, Akshay has Attrangi Re, Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, Cinderella, Bachchan Pandey, Prithviraj, and the long-delayed Sooryavanshi to look forward to.
