Ajay Devgn's Maidaan Gets A New Release Date
Updated : July 04, 2020 11:19 AM ISTAjay Devgn starrer Maidaan has now locked in Independence Day 2021 to release his upcoming sports drama Maidaan. The film which will see Ajay portraying former Indian football coach Sayed Abdul Rahim had faced delays due to the conronavirus scare in the country.
The actor took to Twitter to announce the new release date for the film which is 13 August 2021 moving it several months ahead of the December 2020 release date initially set by the makers. Maidaan is one of the many films to move to 2021.
According to earlier reports the makers of Maidaan had rented over a dozen acres of land for two months to re-created an entire stadium in Mumbai to shoot football match sequences but it remained unused. The delay reportedly cost the producers nearly Rs. 7 crores in losses.

Ajay has also announced a film on the clash between India and China in the Galwan Valley that led to the loss of 20 soldiers. The cast of the film and other details are yet to be announced.
Ajay’s other film for the year, Bhuj: The Pride Of India skipped the theatrical release entirely and is headed for a direct release on OTT. The movie will now release on Disney+ Plus Hotstar.
