5 Films That Prove That Bollywood Failed To Exploit Bipasha Basu's Talent To The Fullest!
Updated : January 07, 2020 09:21 PM ISTBipasha Basu had made her debut in Bollywood back in 2001 with Ajnabee. Even though her performance in the film cannot be called top notch, she was good in her debut film. She even bagged the Filmfare Best Debut Award for her performance. And that is not all. She had a steady number of roles in her kitty and with a few more films, she had established herself as a sensual beauty.
But much was yet to be explored for Bipasha as an actress. She did a couple of films which did try to explore her as an actress, there weren't many films that could establish her as a top-notch actress. In fact, she had been stereod so much that she did only horror films for a long period of time, so much so that the media dubbed her as the horror queen of India.
But it will be wrong to dismiss Bipasha Basu as just an average actress. She did have potential, which Bollywood sadly failed to exploit to its fullest. Here is a list of 5 films that prove that Bipasha Basu has much more potential than we think she does:
1. Raaz
It was the first movie where Bipasha had a prominent role. She played the lead actress. While much is not there to emote or express in a horror film, she beautifully played the part of Sanjana, a wife who wants to leave her husband for his infidelity but also tries to save him from the evil spirit that wants to kill him!
2. Jism
This film established Bipasha as the sex siren of the industry. She played the negative role of Sonia who plays a game of love to get rid of her husband. She convinces another man to kill him, calling it love. Her portrayed the cunning and shrewd Sonia to perfection and we still have her image in Chalo Tumko Le Kar Chale glued to our mind!
3. Corporate
It is one of the few films that had Bipasha in the solo lead. In fact, with Madhur Bhandarkar's direction, Bipasha was able to show that she is a powerhouse of talent. She played the role of Nishi, who would go to any extent for her company. She portrays the helplessness that many have to face in the cunning corporate world. Her performance was lauded by both the critics and the audiences.
4. Bachna Ae Haseeno
This might be an unconventional choice but she completely did justice to the small town aspiring model, Radhika, who chooses to lose her identity and individuality for her boyfriend. Right from being in love to the heartbreak to becoming a no-nonsense successful model, she played each shade to perfection!
5 Sob Charitro Kalponik
This is a Bengali film that was directed by Rituparno Ghosh. She was cast opposite Prasenjit Chatterjee, one of the biggest actors of the Bengali film industry. But she was so good with her role that she stole the show from everyone around her. She was subtle and balanced in the film, portraying the dilemma between leaving a loveless marriage with family and a growing attraction with sensitivity. This is probably one of her best performances, ever!
We really want to see her back in a power-packed role soon!
