Exclusive: Love Shagun Actor Anuj Sachdeva Says, "I will not show my butt for a movie."
Updated : April 06, 2016 11:03 AM ISTActor Anuj Sachdeva, better known for serials like Sabki Laadli Bebo and Chhanchhan is making his Bollywood debut with Love Shagun. A former Roadies contestant, who is trained in Martial Arts and Taekwando, Anuj is quite opposite to his skills in nature.
“The whole story revolves around this character JD. But he’s not into drinking at all.” (Anuj laughs and explains that JD has nothing to do with liquor brand Jack Daniels)… (continues).. “He’s a very nice person, who will not read in between the lines. He’s always talking from his heart. But coming from a small town to a city like Goa, he is basically surrounded by people whom he would believe in. And the solutions they’d give him in context to solve problems in his life, eventually happen to make a Khichdi! After applying all the theories of life, it’s a mess. Somewhere, yes he’s a mamma’s boy.” says Anuj.
Anuj, who has a very strong headed image among his fans, is playing a slightly geeky character as JD in Love Shagun. He told us, “I could relate to that because my mother would give me those rings in my hand and say wear it because you will shine in your work. Even if you don’t believe it, if there’s a section corner in the newspaper you’d just go through it and start your day. I believe everybody believes in it some way or the other. Though they might not believe in it totally if something wrong happens, but, if something good happens they will believe in it.”
Hence he specifies that Love Shagun is more of a romcom and a light hearted film.
For those who have noticed, he has done adverts with Anushka and Deepika. ‘I’ve always been taken as someone who worked opposite Anushka in Nivea ad and the guy who has worked with Deepika in Fiama, Sunny Leone and Esha Gupta. I think I wasn’t complete enough before I explored the nerd side of me,” he adds.
Not to forget that he’s in that transition process where he’s moving over to big screen from TV, we wondered how difficult or different it was for him.
“In TV, you can still manage to do better in the next episode. But, in films, you’re not gonna go back to the same location and shoot. You live that character every day,” clarifies Anuj.
This newbie in B-Town is going the wise way and he’s not bothering about what people have to say about him or their judgments. “I’m over critical about my work. I’m not worried about numbers here. People should forget Anuj Sachdeva in this film and they should see JD who’s there. I don’t want people to think that he is Anuj Sachdeva having Anushka in his arms. If they forget in the middle of the movie that I’m the same guy, I’ve won their hearts,” says the actor.
We asked him if he wants to work with anyone in particular in Bollywood. He quickly replied, “Deepika! After watching Bajirao, I really appreciate the work she’s done. She’s grown up so much from Cocktail. I would love to work with an actress who is an 'actress' who is performing very well, that’s what gives you a kick and makes you learn.” However his dream role is from Kamal Haasan’s film Sadma.
While we’ve seen many TV actors flourishing in Bollywood, we asked Anuj about what he thinks about them. “I’m happy TV actors have made it big. I loved Amit’s performance in Kai Po Che more than anyone else. The same directors who might be accepting people from TV, have deleted their audition videos earlier, thinking they’re TV actors.”
Anuj sternly believes that his product will speak for itself. He’s not been seen much promoting the movie, on which he has something very bold to say! “I will not show my butt for a movie. I will believe in word of mouth publicity. If they do not like it, at least my effort should be counted,” he signs off.
Love Shagun releases on 26th February 2016.
