He made his debut in Bollywood with 'Phool aur Kaante' and he received a Filmfare Award For Best Male Debut. One of the scenes from the movie where Ajay performed a split between two bikes, is till now one of the best entry scenes in a movie.
After 'Phool aur Kante', his second film, 'Jigar' became one of the top grosser of that time. Ajay Devgn experimented with romantic movies like 'Naajayaz' , 'Hulchul', 'Gundaraj', and some more but it didn't work well. Although, what worked in his favour was his movie 'Hulchul' where he first met Kajol. Initially, the duo didn't get along as Kajol didn't like him. But, after their next movie together, 'Gundaraj', everything changed for them. What started from dislike turned into friendship and eventually blossomed into love. While everyone thought, the couple will not last long, they surprised everyone with their engagement. During the shoot of 'Ishq', the couple got engaged. The movie was a huge blockbuster and is till now counted in the best movies list. The couple eventually got married in 1999.
Ajay Devgn proved his acting every now and then. He won national award for his performance in 'Zakhm' and 'The Legend Of Bhagat Singh'. Besides this, his performance in 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' was critically acclaimed and is considered one of his best till now.
After doing a lot of serious movies, Ajay moved ahead and did action & comedy movies. In 2010, he chose different genres of movies like 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai', 'Golmaal 3', 'Raajneeti' and a few more where he proved his versatility. During 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai', there were rumors about Ajay and Kangana Ranaut being in a relationship. 'Rascals' added more fuel to the fire as during this movie, the rumor got more validation. But, the couple has never confirmed about their affair.
Everyone makes mistakes and Ajay was no exception to it. He did a few films which he might be embarrassed of like 'Himmatwala', 'London Dreams' and some more. His career took a positive turn with 'Singham', followed by 'Singham Returns' and 'Drishyam' Besides his filmy career, Ajay Devgn received Padma Shri award in 2016.
