Son of eminent Director David Dhawan and his wife Karuna Dhawan, he has received popular fame as well as critical acclaim for his performances since his debut in 2012. In his different films, he has taken different avatars according to his roles. Some things have stayed constant like his innocence, innate likeability, and casual attitude, whereas some things have varied like his style quotient.
In 'Student of The Year', we saw Varun flaunting his uber cool student look with the boyish charm that can easily steal hearts in a jiffy. His casual attire and natural look were worth falling for. In 'Main Tera Hero', he made a more pronounced style statement with trying different styles and matching up with the trendy outfits. In 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya', he went for a suave, elegant look which was a total fit for the story as well as the character that he was playing. 'Badlapur' saw a completely different avatar of Varun in which he opted a rugged, worn out look which was enough to put everyone in awe and sealed the fact that his acting skills are totally on point. His bearded look combined with similar attire was something nobody expected out of this chocolaty hero of our times, but he wowed us all. 'ABCD 2' was all about dancing and passion and hence Varun went for the street dancer look, effortlessly upfront as well as captivating. 'Dilwale' saw an old Varun again where he brought back his boyish charm as he played the younger brother of Kaali (Shah Rukh Khan) with his choice of wardrobe being very casual. Although in performances he did rock trendy outfits but the overall impression was something which we would associate with him- innocent, impressive, and casual.
