Sultan V Dangal V Shivaay V Befikre: Who Will Enter The 100, 200 & 300 Crore Club?
Updated : June 02, 2016 06:21 PM ISTWhile you’d believe 2016 hasn’t had the best of results if its initial 5 months are put to test, what has to be taken into account is that any given year only performs best in its second half. With major festivals, long weekends, northern winters and above all BOXOFFICE BIGGIES lined up in the months ahead, you can expect the ticket counters to really shake up in the best of forms.
Going by the past trends, current box office moods and upcoming release traffic, here’s our box office prediction of all the biggies this year:
Udta Punjab
With its strictly limited outreach and a dark controversial appeal, Udta Punjab will have to heavily rely on the word of mouth. If it acquires a good response by critics and audiences, it may do a maximum business of somewhere between 55-70 crores.
Sultan
Now this has the potential of being the highest grosser of the year by a fair distant. With Salman’s last release PRDP easily surpassing the 200 crore mark with Bajrangi going over 300, Sultan is indeed a 300 crore material. If at all the film earns a good word of mouth, it will somewhere do between 280 – 310 crores.
Dishoom
Packed with high octane action sequences and commercial masala, this one has the making of a sleeper hit. The film at its maximum potential can do somewhere between 80 – 120 crores.
Jagga Jasoos
Having being in the limbo forever, while this film has all big names attached to its credit, its constant delaying has however dented its prosperous chances. However, the film is still expected to a business in the range of 90-110 crores.
Mohenjo Daro
With a combo as deadly as coming together of Hrithik and Gowariker, Mohanjo Daro with all its magnanimity will easily cross the 100 crore mark. The film is expected to do a business of 150 – 160 crores.
Rustom
Akshay has been on a roll! From Special 26, Baby and Airlift to his upcoming patriotic drama Rustom, the actor is only seeing progressive trends. However, a clash with Mohenjo Daro may affect its box office run. The film is likely to do a business of 80-100 crores.
MS Dhoni: The Untold Story
With huge amount of craze already hovering around this biopic on MS Dhoni, there’s a good chance the film will do well. The film is certain to do a business of over 100 crores, somewhere in the range of 110-130 crores.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
It’s been long since a Karan Johar movie arrived and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s stellar cast only makes it a potentially good performer at the box office. However, it’s extremely urban quotient may now go down very well at mass centers. The film is expected to do a business of 80-110 crores.
Shivaay
With an extremely intriguing build up to what’s looking a mysteriously chilling film, Shivaay, the Ajay Devgn directorial is a definite contender to enter the 100 crore club. The film is expected to do a business close to 125 crores.
Rock On 2
This film may have some promise. With a worthy first part raising the expectation level of the audience exponentially high, Rock On 2 with all its fair chances may do a business in the range of 60-75 crores.
Befikre
Aditya Chopra’s directorial is an event and with Ranveer having beaten SRK last year on Diwali, Befikre has honest chances of doing pretty well at the box office. The film if nicely made can pull of something between 85-100 crores.
Dangal
337 and 280 crores is what Aamir’s last two conventional releases garnered at the box office. His ability to shed out record breakers on all occasions gives him enough chances to repeat the feat. However, Dangal doesn’t appear to be an ‘out n out’ commercial entertainer. The film will certainly go past 200 crores and may just challenge Sultan if laced with extremely positive response. Our prediction is this film will do a business 250-270 crores.
