The sight of Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar taking his unruffled walk to stride on to the pitch and take his perfect looking batting stance is enough to give even a remote cricket lover some goosebumps. The ‘God of Cricket’ whose long cricketing career stretched almost 25 years is a journey every Indian knows in and out. Three years after his farewell from the park, we now have a film coming up that hopes to recreate his life journey on screen.
At a time when Emraan Hashmi portrays Azhar, Sushant Singh Rajput plays Dhoni, we don’t have an actor narrating the expedition of Sachin Tendulkar, we have the man himself. Laced with a subtle voiceover by the little master, the teaser of Sachin takes us through what possibly can be a heart touching description of the legend’s game.
“Mere Baba Hamesha Mujhse Kehte The Ki Tumne Cricket Ko Chuna Hai, Lekin Aakhir Tak Jo Baat Tumhare Sath Rahegi Wo Ye Hogi Ki Tum Insan Kaise Ho”, says a humble Sachin while visuals of his childhood impersonation flow along and speak the film has a lot of character. With the famous background commentary by Tony Greig calling him a wonderful player to fans crying out loud ‘Sachin Sachin’, the opening teaser is a rusher of emotions.
Having achieved almost all cricketing feats throughout his career, what the film promises to showcase is the unheard, unseen sides to Sachin’s life. “55 Days of Training, One Pair Of Trousers: The Sachin Story” is a poster tagline for a film that already has “A Billion Dream” to its title. In a season of cinema turning to cricket to find stories, we believe this one is going to make one hell of a saga.
