5 Reasons Why Hrithik’s Kaabil May Dominate The Box Office Battle Against King Khan's Raees!
Updated : January 21, 2017 10:46 AM ISTHrithik Roshan is currently like that wounded tiger who’s desperate to win back his box office reign at any cost. After a rather humiliating defeat against with Akshay Kumar’s Rustom earlier this year, the onus was always going to be on him to shift the release date of his upcoming film Kaabil to avert clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees. As it turned out, the father-son duo of Rakesh-Hrithik stood by their product and gave a rather strong message to their viewers to keep their hopes intact.
Let’s not forget, while Raees comes from its shaky past of indecisiveness, Kaabil wants to convince people of its content. Originally slated to release on Eid last year, the Rahul Dholakia starrer couldn’t gather the confidence to take on Salman Khan’s Sultan. The producers surprisingly shifted the release ahead by months to come out on January 25th since Diwali, Christmas were already taken.
While the social media buzz was still enormously in favor of the SRK starrer, Kaabil became an obvious underdog in equation. However, the weighing scale here is so flimsy that it’s unpredictable to pick a favorite already.
As much as we want to give Raees an advantage to take over Kaabil head on, here are 5 reasons why we think Kaabil will end up winning the box office battle:
The Second Trailer
While the first trailer of Kaabil resonated enormously with the masses, the content oriented audiences found it to be a little outdated along with its music. However, making supreme amends without wasting anytime, the makers came out with the second trailer that did click with most people. If a section of audience wasn’t too convinced with the idea of Kaabil, the second trailer has given enough encouragement to the makers already.
The Subject
Rahul Dholakia, the director of Raees is an able filmmaker. However, everything that Raees promises has already been seen in all different eras. However, Kaabil on the other hand oozes freshness with a never before seen subject being taken to screen. While the film is completely entertainment driven, the love story of a blind couple shaping in a revenge drama is something to look forward to. With intriguing mix of ideas wrapped in promising storytelling, there’s no denying Kaabil’s subject is catching more connect with the masses.
The Supporting Cast
This is where it gets very tricky. Despite a deadly combination of SRK-Nawazuddin on the table, it’s almost inescapable to accept that the cast of Kaabil shows more promise. While Hrithik is a fabulous actor in his own realm, it’s the support cast that spreads major promise. Who better than Ronit Roy to play villain a dark and violent action film? Yami Gautam with whatever space she’s got in the film is not disappointing her fans either.
Confidence On Content
Rakesh Roshan, the co-developer of the script apart from being its producer has come out with complete confidence on Kaabil’s content. Despite a heavy loaded prospect like Raees in fray, team Kaabil has stood by their picture trusting its content. On the other hand, we know Excel and Red Chilies Entertainment have been playing it too safe to release their film. The kind of confidence Filmkraft has instilled in Kaabil, it is way more concrete than it was for Krazzy 4 or Kites. Hence, some quality has already been promised.
Hrithik’s Redemption
Hrithik has been missing out on any kind of critical acclaim since 2012’s Agneepath. With someone like Hrithik who’s a complete class apart, you have to be aware that his comeback his just round the corner. With him being closely involved in the making of his home production Kaabil, it is quite believable that he has indeed put his blood and sweat into the film. For an actor who has misfired bigtime with Mohenjo Daro, you can expect his picture perfect perfectionist avatar to take the front seat once again.
As much as we want both Kaabil and Raees to come true to their titles and bring skills and richness into play, we know the box office always does pick a winner.
Independence Day 2016 was when Hrithik lost it all, can he win it back on Republic Day 2017?
