Hate at first sight
Manav and Archana hated each other and the rest is history.
People didn’t even bother to know their real names because Manav (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Archana (Ankita Lokhande) were too convincing onscreen, on Zee TV’s most popular TV show Pavitra Rishta. The two weren’t on talking terms and couldn’t see eye to eye when they met on the sets of the show. However, as the camera rolled, some magic happened and the two would simply look charismatic together. Even the old aged aunties in front of their TV sets would blush when the two did romantic scenes with the much popular background track playing for them. Sushant and Ankita were fresh faces with a very promising future because the show had raging TRPs and there was no stopping.
In an interview, Sushant once confessed, "Ankita hated me initially. But, finally she gave in and said yes. When you are spending 16 to 17 hours with a person who is persistently trying to woo you, you really don't have much choice!"
Sushant was an introvert and Ankita who was playing a submissive girl on the show was actually an extrovert in real life. They were completely poles apart in their nature and thinking, yet something clicked between the two. Hence proved, opposites attract.

Proposal on National Television
Fact 101: As much as people like to seek social acceptance and validation from the public about their relationship, they should think twice before doing such a thing on national television. Remember the Swayamvar series on NDTV Imagine? Imagine none of them ended together! None!
Sushant proposed Ankita on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on national television. He went down on his knees to seek a yes from the girl whom he loved for the past two years. Ofcourse she said yes and the two were supposedly planning to tie the knot in December 2016. In fact the two were quoted to be very serious about taking their relationship to the next level, and marriage was 100% on the cards.
He proposed to her again!
How lovely is it to be proposed by a man, not once but twice? Fairytale like right?
During the new-year in 2014, Sushant made another attempt to propose her in Dubai and she couldn’t stop gushing about their love life and beautiful relationship.

Living in
The two started living in together and were inseparable! Ankita fondly spoke about him saying, “He’s a romantic and pampers me a lot. In fact, there are lots of similarities between him and Manav, the character that he plays on TV. He’s shy and soft-spoken, but of late he’s learning to express his feelings better than before.”

With success comes jealousy!
Ofcourse you lose people around you when you reach a certain level of success in life, and some of them are lost for good. Sushant quit the show Pavitra Rishta at the peak of his television career while Ankita remained behind to take it forward. The TRPs did drop after he left and Ankita’s character was dragged. Sushant’s Kai Po Che was a hit and his female fan following was soaring every day. Sushant jokingly said, "I feel very happy when Ankita Lokhande is jealous of my female fans!"
Like any other rising Bollywood actor, rumours of his link ups and break up starting doing rounds of the rumour mills.
But everytime the media thought they’d called it quits, Sushant and Ankita would make a public appearance together to shut the gossip mongers. Sushant clarified, "I’m lucky to have Ankita in my life. I don’t know what I’d do without her. People say things and she still trusts me. That level of trust is something that I love about her. If I’m in this industry it’s good that I have a partner like her. That level of trust and unconditional love is rare in today’s world." They were even ready to wait for the right script to work together in films.
Dropping hints
As the year passed by, Sushant and Ankita’s break up rumours didn’t stop coming. Though Sushant had announced that a November wedding is on the cards, he was somehow perplexed and fighting his emotions. He was quoted online saying, "It just happened naturally. I am honestly not sure. I mean for the past few months, I have been very confidently saying that our marriage will happen in 2016, but Ankita may suddenly say no to getting married next year. You never know.”

The Wedding
It was all set. Fans were going crazy over Sushant and Ankita, or let’s say Manav and Archana! He confirmed, "My side of the family is very chilled out. They will be fine even if I decide to have a court marriage. She wants to get married in a palace in Jodhpur, and I am fine with that."
The tough times
Sushant and Ankita finally called it quits in May while he was in Budapest. Ironically, Sushant was on the verge of his biggest hit of the year which fared really well. He was playing MS Dhoni after all. While one side of his life was rocking, personal life was on the rocks. He tweeted to confirm their separation. “Neither she was an alcoholic nor I am a womaniser . People do Grow apart & it’s unfortunate . Period!!”
Yes, a lot of media sites speculated that Ankita had become an alcoholic and that Sushant was a womanizer. He was involved with every actress he was working with, whether it was Parineeti or Kriti! But, according to both of them, none of it was true, and in fact Sushant’s tweet hinted at a very amicable break up where he made sure Ankita didn’t take the stones alone.
Ankita too shared a glimpse of her emotions on Twitter, "So many years of education yet nobody ever taught me how to love myself and why it's so important.” In an interview to India Today, the actress said, "Do I look depressed? Not at all, in fact I am happy. Though, this is not right place to talk about my relationship status; but yes, we (Sushant and I) will definitely speak about it at the right time.I don't know why everyone's speculating about our six-year relationship, and saying that it has ended and that we are no longer together. It's unnecessary and uncalled for. I am there with him as always, I love Sushant Singh Rajput unconditionally. These rumours are completely baseless and in bad taste."
Is love lost?
Sad to say, but yes, Sushant and Ankita have both moved on with their lives. Whilst Sushant is rumoured to be dating Kriti Sanon and is currently busy preparing for his upcoming film, Chanda Mama Door Ke, Ankita is busy preparing for Manikarnika.
Sadly, life sometimes goes down paths that we may not like. But you never know, that may be for the best...
