The film had initially been rejected for certification because it was apprently 'lady oriented' with their 'fantasies above life. The CBFC also said that it had contagious sex scenes. While the entire nation had been debating on how justifiable this ban was, it is time of us to actually go to the theatres and see the justification.
The film had garnered a lot of buzz. The trailers had been mind blowing. And seeing the trailers here's what most of us expected:
Yes we saw a lot of kissing and making out in the trailers. Some were enraged that the film targetted Muslims since it had Burkha in the title. And on top of that it portrayed wwomen as beings who can have sexual desires! But what all did the movie actually have? Let's check out:
Yes, the film did show women as actual sexual beings. It showed that they are not just daughters, sisters, mothers or something in relation but actual individuals who have desires and fantasies. However, it didnot have the vulgarity that many movies have (read Masti series, Mastizaade etc). The narrative and story-telling is mature and powerful and it holds a mirror to the society without being too didactic or moralistic. The male characters too play an important part. They are shown as people who have a vague idea of masculinity and tries to impose that, though they might be incapable from within! It is a simple tale of four women and how they desire to break free from the chains binding them!
