Kalki Koechlin Says The Award Will Make People Stop Questioning Her 'Desiness'
Updated : May 04, 2016 01:11 PM ISTKalki Koechlin was given the Special Jury Award at the 63rd National Awards for her role in 'Margarita, With A Straw'. Kalki played the role of a young girl with cerebral palsy. The film narrates her journey as she explores her sexuality.
Kalki says, "It was an important film for me. I learnt a lot as an actor and a human being. The amount of practice I had to do for that film was incredible. It just shows that how much more work we can put into every film."
The actress who was dressed in a Sabyasachi sari while the National Awards ceremony feels the award is extremely important for her.
"It's a really big deal for me. I think this is the most prestigious award you can get as an actor in this country. It makes me feel more 'desi'. I feel like people will stop questioning my 'desiness', says Kalki.
The actress will now be seen in Anu Menon's 'Waiting' next to Nasseruddin Shah.
