Box Office: Happy Bhag Jayegi Shows Growth, Collects This Much In Opening Weekend
Updated : August 22, 2016 02:39 PM ISTWhile Diana Penty’s flaring comeback had enough riding on itself to warrant some sustainability, the film on the contrary took a slow start. However, cashing in on its relatively positive word of mouth, the film did show some visible growth through its opening weekend and gained momentum. Looking at the trends and cost of the film, it will now be interesting to see how it performs on the weekdays.
The Aanand L. Rai’s production opened to a modest 2.32 crores on Friday but showed major improvement on Saturday and Sunday. The film garnered 3.81 crores on Saturday and an impressive 4.58 crores on Saturday to bring its overall tally up at 10.71 crores. Given the kind of not so major names the film boasts of, a ‘ten crore’ weekend is by no means a discouragement to the product. The film directed by Mudassar Aziz has a solid chance to milk its way to profit.
#HappyBhagJayegi Fri 2.32 cr, Sat 3.81 cr, Sun 4.58 cr. Total: ₹ 10.71 cr. India biz... Has to stay afloat on weekdays to leave a mark.

While Rustom largely remained the first choice of cinegoers in its second weekend as well, the colossal collapse of Mohenjo Daro helped Happy Bhag Jayegi sail its way to a better prospect. Also, a luring star cast with Abhay Deol as the X-factor always remained as the USP of the film and didn’t let its weak box office appeal get in the way of its success. If Happy Bhag Jayegi is able to sustain well through the weekdays and bring its figures close to 20 crores, the film may well recover its cost and yield some profits. Going by the tough competition lying ahead, every film coming out to test waters at the box office has only got one week to prove its mettle.
