Deepika Padukone: A Dream Journey From Shanti To Mastani
Updated : April 06, 2016 11:02 AM ISTDeepika Padukone is approximately 8 years old in the entertainment industry and she has achieved greater heights as what we would have expected her to. With an excellent opening opposite the King of the industry, Deepika established herself as one of the greatest actors of our time. Om Shanti Om was the real deal maker with which she carved her niche in the industry and after this there was no stopping her.
Struggle
Even though Shanti won a million hearts, Deepika was losing. Deepika wasn't able to re-create the magic that Shanti created on the silver screen, neither as Ranbir's love interest in Bachna Ae Haseeno nor in Nikhil Advani's action-comedy Chandni Chowk To China. Film critics and audiences were disappointed with Deepika.
In the same year, Deepika came across as a strong headed career girl alongside Saif Ali Khan in Love Aaj Kal, she showed a glimpse of her personality and her performance in the film was stated as one of the best roles that she had done so far.
Deepika went ahead to bag roles opposite one of the strongest men in the film industry but for a long time Deepika dealt with a series of monotonous films. Karthik Calling Karthik, Lafangey Parindey, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey were lost in oblivion.
Success Diaries
It took as long as 5 years for Deepika to reach the level that she is on today. Cocktail proved to be that one film in which Deepika had just let go off everything. She played the role of an impulsive, loud party girl.
The contrasting roles that Deepika has played proved her versatility has an actor. From Cocktail's Veronica to Naina in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, from a loud impulsive character to a shy wallflower. Deepika showed the magic of her performance and everyone knows all the films Deepika has been a part of since then. Ram-Leela, Piku, Happy New Year were all box office hits.
Deepika has once again ruled the box office with her films Tamasha and Bajirao Mastani and the contrast in the roles that Deepika plays in both the films is too high. One is a conventional 21st-century love story and the other is a historical romantic tale.
But this success story remains incomplete without a musical chapter. Before Deepika entered the film industry, she ruled the modeling world. She was the face of a lot of known brands but gained recognition with Himesh Reshamiya's music video 'Naam hai tera'.
New Experiments
Deepika has not just been a film star, but she has also been vocal about issues like depression and feminism. It takes a lot of courage to come on the national television and speak about ones' personal life. She deeply discussed it and started a foundation 'Love Laugh Live' to support people suffering from clinical depression.
Deepika has also started her own fashion line on Myntra called 'All about you'.
