4 Biggest Ways Aamir's Dangal is Different From Salman's Sultan

But yesterday when Dangal's trailer released, there was a lot of talk but it wasn't all about how good the movie is. There was an immediate comparison to Salman Khan's Sultan.
And why not? It is in fact hard not to compare the two films. For one both are wrestling films and even within that the movie has a lot of similar plot lines.
But we are not here to discuss the similarities but talk about how the two films are different from each other.
Real v/s Fantasy
While Salman Khan's Sultan detailed the meteoric rise of a well-intentioned into a world-class wrestler in a matter of months, Aamir Khan's Dangal is based on the real-life story of wrestler coach Mahavir Singh Phogat.
Two different projections of women empowerment
In Sultan, Aarfa sacrifices her career for Sultan, which was seen as empowering in its own way as a woman chose what to do with her life and her body. But in Dangal, women empowerment happens by putting onus on women to succeed and solve a crisis.
Two different timelines v/s linear plot
Aamir Khan's Dangal will present the story in two separate timelines a.k.a young, muscular wrestler Aamir and old, grizzly Aamir. But Salman's Sultan has a much more linear story.
Husband-wife relationship v/s Father-daughter relationship
Sultan is at heart a story about a husband and wife, their separartion and reconcilation. But in Dangal, Mahavir Phogat's relationship with his daughters.
