5 Box Office Clashes We Are Looking Forward To In 2016

The first half of the year may have gotten over but the box office battles have just started. With Sultan having rewritten box office history, the season of the biggies is starting to expand its arms. Of course the last quarter of every year is the most productive in terms of film releases and box office grossing, 2016 is sitting with a potential pile of thousands of crores in business.

While biggies like Dangal, Befikre, MS Dhoni have all set their timelines keeping the best slots available in minds, we are yet to witness some exciting clashes ahead. If all goes according to set dates, we have as many as 5-6 epic clashes in store that are sure as hell making the audiences wait in anticipation.

Let’s take a look at 5 of those scheduled clashes that we should really look forward to in 2016:

Madaari Vs Kabali (Tamil) – July 22

Yes, this may not appear as a worthy valid competition at the box office since Kabali isn’t a Bollywood release. But keeping the Rajinikanth prospects in minds, it is safe to assume that Thalaiva’s Hindi dubbed version would have enough fire power to take on Irrfan Khan’s Madaari. Both films come out on July 22^nd and there’s a strong chance the audience would find themselves divided. Of course there’ no sense of challenge in Southern part of the country since Kabali is a colossal release back there but in rest of India, both these unique films have enough potential to take on each other.

Mohenjo Daro Vs Rustom – August 12

This one is not just the biggest box office clash of the year but the decade. With the likes of Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar taking on each other in the extended weekend of Independence Day, these two films are expected to rewrite box office figures. While Hrithik’s Mohenjo Daro is a historical drama, Akshay’s Rustom is a mystery wrapped in a patriotic drama. With such a huge clash lined up just one month ahead, you can start preparing yourself for some exciting times at the movies. While social media buzz has been favoring Rustom, Mohenjo Daro is a much bigger challenger on paper!

Pink Vs Raaz Reboot – September 16

This one can once again make for a very happening filmy Friday given the diverse genres colliding with each other. While on one hand we have Big B as an advocate in an absorbing drama ‘Pink’, Emraan Hashmi on the other hand will reprise his Raaz franchise along with Vikram Bhatt in the looks of Raz Reboot. In both cases, we’ll have two equally popular films taking on each other.

Banjo Vs Manmarziyaan – September 23

The very next week will have films like Banjo and Manmarziyan battling it out at the box office. Starring Riteish Dekhmukh in the lead, while Banjo is a commercial masala about a sewage dweller with a special talent of playing Banjo, Manmarziyan is a love triangle starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar and Vicky Kaushal. We guess this could well be a big dose of entertainment on a single day. Which one will win, would only depend on which one is better.

Shivaay Vs Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – October 28^th

The best in store could be waiting for your attendance at the end! With Diwali (the biggest of release slot) awaiting two biggies like Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil on the same day, you can brace up for a cracking Diwali already. Directed by Ajay Devgn himself, while Shivaay is a unique action drama set in the chills of mountains, Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil on the other hand is an urban drama dealing with relationships. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Fawad Khan and Anushka Sharma. There is already a set audience for both kinds of movies but the better made film will certainly be the favorite to inch ahead in the long run.
