9 Times Friendships In Bollywood Were Ruined Over Movies!

Bollywood is currently experiencing a new phase in friendships where actors are standing up for one another and wishing them success for their upcoming films. So many actors wished Akshay Kumar well for prior to the release of Rustom which released in August this year. But the friendships that get actors the biggest of film projects and the much needed support from the industry are in reality extremely fragile. Any misunderstanding or disagreement over a movie collaboration or a clash at the box office of two movies can ruin friendships that fans almost swear by! Here are friendships that went sour over movies!

Kajol and Karan Johar – Kajol has maintained to be one of Karan favorite heroines in the industry. They have not only worked together on blockbusters like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham but also shared a great personal understanding. But the clash of Karan’s directorial venture Ae Dil Hai Mushkil  with Shivaay that is the ambitious project of Kajol’s husband, Ajay Devgn seems to have shaken and stirred their friendship profoundly! In fact Ajay Devgn who has never been friends with Karan unlike his wife recently stated in an interview that Kajol’s equation with Karan “is not as warm as it was.” Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil clash this Diwali is anticipated to be the biggest of 2016!

Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty – The failure of their collaboration Dilwale in 2015 was not received well by either of them. They ended up accusing nobody else but one another for the film’s failure. Both were supposed to collaborate on a project together after Dilwale, but even the idea of it was shelved after the rift. While Shah Rukh supposedly believed that Rohit did not work hard enough on the film, Rohit allegedly held the opinion that the decision to release the film opposite Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Maastani was a foolish one! Their friendship drowned in this fiasco and they might work together again!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee – Aishwarya was done with half the shooting of the 2003 blockbuster Chalte Chalte when she was uncharacteristically replaced by her good friend Rani Mukherjee in the film. Reason of the replacement was Aishwarya then boyfriend Salman Khan who apparently showed up on the sets drunk and caused a scene. This did not go down well with anyone and Aishwarya lost the film. This also frizzled out the friendship the two actresses shared.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan – The reason is the same as the drop out with Rani Mukherjee, Shah Rukh who produced the film did not want to take things forward with Aishwarya and make matters worse for his film Chalte Chalte and thus he sacked her off the project. This was also an end to the cordial terms they were at!

Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Salman Khan – Salman and Sanjay did great work together on two films Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Khamoshi. They were on great terms personally, owing to which Salman once gave Sanjay Leela Bhansali gifted him a DVD of Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige. Sanjay got inspired from the film to make Guzaarish and to cast in the film Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. This did not go down well with Salman and he decided never to work with Sanjay again!

Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan – Their on and off friendship has fondly made headline in the media but cracks appeared in their relationship when Salman lost Guzaarish to Hirthik! Salman never wasted a second in laughing off at the film, in front of the media, and making a rude remark, “usski film kutta bhi nai delkhne jaega!” (not even a dog will go and watch his film). That sealed the deal and their friendship has always been rocky since even after news of their burying the matter and being friends again!

Riteish Deshmukh and Shreyas Talpade – The two actors have shared a great rapport in Bollywood. They even worked together in films like Housefull 2 and Apna Sapna Money Money. Their friendship was however disturbed by a clash of two Marathi films. Riteish made his debut in Marathi cinema with Lai Bhaari and it was scheduled to clash with Shreyas Talpade’s home production Poshter Boyz. When Riteish refused to move his release date, Shreyas did, grudgingly so!

Arbaaz Khan and Anurag Kashyap – The stiff happened over standing up for their respective brothers with Dabangg in the middle of the debate! Abhinav Kashyap who director the super hit film with Salman Khan was gallantly replaced by Arbaz Khan as the director in the sequel. Their cordial relationship went down the drain when they got in a verbal spat on social media over the matter. The relationship although was restored after they met at a party and talked it out!

Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi – The duo gave the industry blockbusters like Ghayal, Ghatak and Damini. Their friendship went sour when Sunny Deol was portrayed Chandrashekhar Azad in 23rd March, 1931: Shaheed and Santoshi made a movie with on the same subject with Ajay Devgn tiltled The Legend of Bhagat Singh. To worsen the matters the two films released on the same date and ruined their friendship!
