Mammootty: Kalabhavan Mani Loved Calling Me 'Mammookka'
Updated : April 06, 2016 11:03 AM IST Mollywood has been saddened by the sudden demise of Kalabhavan Mani. The whole industry is shocked to hear that one of most versatile actors has left the mortal world. Superstar Mammootty also mourned the death of his close friend and said in a statement, “I am beyond shocked to learn that Mani, who often visited me with Mangostin fruits and saplings, lovingly calling out to me ''Mammookka...'' isn't there anymore”.
“I was away in Bengaluru for a shoot when I watched the scroll about his death on TV. This time, death grabbed someone who was too close to me, a brother who was there at an arm's distance for anything. How will I console myself?”, he said.
“He was a younger brother who would come before me and wipe a tear if he has done something bad. He considered my home his own, and me as an older sibling. Even while smoking, he would hold the cig away if he saw me. He love was unadulterated. He would often visit me on set with chicken and mutton, with a cook. He would prepare my favourite dishes and serve me, until I am full and happy. He is also the one to be credited for bringing back naadan pattu into Malayalam films and music. A band should have been formed for his music”, he added. The 45-year-old actor passed away on March 6. The police have filed a case of unnatural death after methanol traces were found in his body.
