Journalist-turned-voiceover artist Badekkila Pradeep is delighted to make his debut as an actor. Pradeep, who has done almost 15,000 voiceovers, has also sung a track in his debut film Mirchi Mandakki Kadak Chai. Directed by Sanjotha and produced under the banner of Tanu Talkies, the movie is a much-anticipated comedy flick.
"I had always liked the thought of acting, but didn't pursue it from my school days. I went on to do my journalism and started working for an entertainment channel. Around that time, I got an offer to do a Kannada serial, and since I was keen on acting I gave it a shot and that's how it all began. I did the role and after that I landed a Tamil serial, which is still on air. During the course of my serial, I got an opportunity to essay a small role in the multilingual film Chandra. Sanjotha Prashanth, the director of Mirchi Mandakki Kadak Chai, got my reference from her editor. While they were initially unsure, since they had someone else in mind, they still let me audition. And in no time, I was shooting for my first full-fledged role as a hero," confirms Pradeep, adding, "Acting wasn't on my agenda, but I am glad it happened."
According to the latest reports, the character played by him represents the mirchi aspect in the film, while the other two characters, Sachin and Namrata, represent mandakki and kadak chai. Talking about his role, Badekkila Pradeep says, "It is a very different character from the typical hero. This guy has his own take on everything in life. Be it his opinions on mundane things or even the tried-and-tested tales like that of the hare and the tortoise. He's a go-getter and let's nothing come in his way, and follows everything in a calculated manner. He tries the same kind of approach in his love life, only to end up jeopardizing the situation. It is a nicely etched out role and I can relate to bits of it".
