Shraddha Kapoor, the female lead in Ekta Kapoor’s The Villain?

The taste of success from Aashiqui 2 has not even grown a bit older for debutante Shraddha Kapoor and here comes another big scope for her. This time she will feature in Ekta Kapoor’s The Villain as its female lead opposite Sidharth Malhotra, if reports are at all to be believed.

As reported by an insider, “Yes, she (Shraddha) has been selected to play the leading lady, opposite to Siddharth Malhotra. After ‘Aashiqui 2’ turning out to be a huge hit, Shraddha is in demand now.” The insider added, “Post the success of ‘Aashiqui 2’, Shraddha Kapoor was considered the best for the role. Both Mohit and Ekta are convinced that she’s best suited for the character.”

The man who was behind the success of Aashiqui 2, director Mohit Suri, will helm The Villain too. The search for the most suitable actress for its lead role was on for a long time and now it has been a while that the director has finally opted for someone. While Shraddha’s Aashiqui 2 performed quite well at the box-office, Siddharth Malhotra’s debut film Student of the Year was also a huge commercial success last year. Tushar Hiranandani of ABCD fame has penned the screenplay of The Villain and Milap Zaveri has worked for its dialogues.
