Sanjay Dutt’s Biopic Details Actor’s Drug Addiction
Updated : April 06, 2016 11:02 AM IST Sanjay Dutt’s has faced many ups-and-down in life, the current status being his jail term in arms case relating to 1993 bomb blasts. In several interviews, Dutt has spilled beans about his struggle with drug abuse, and this is reportedly the integral part of the plot for his upcoming biographical film. Reports suggest that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani along with writer Abhijat Joshi arranged for 40 meetings with Dutt to base the script, amongst which substance abuse took most of the time writing.
A source has been quoted as saying, “When Raju and Abhijat started talking to Sanjay about his struggles with alcohol and drugs, it took them 40 trips to the actor’s house to get the complete story about how it started, his anxieties, and how things came under control”. The flick, which will star Ranbir Kapoor in the titular role is currently being scripted. Hirani along with Joshi is penning down the script.
The source further revealed how the idea of Sanjay Dutt’s biopic struck Hirani’s mind, and said, “The thought of making a biopic on Sanjay came to both Hirani and Abhijat a few years ago, when one day, they were hanging out with the actor at his place. At that time, Sanjay had narrated to them some anecdotes from his life. They got so interested, that they decided to make a film on him”.
