Manoj Bajpai’s Family Doesn’t ‘Judge’ Him For Playing Gay In Aligarh
Updated : April 06, 2016 11:03 AM IST Manoj Bajpai, who essayed the role of a gay professor in upcoming film ‘Aligarh’, says that his family didn’t have any problem with him playing such a bold role. The actor told Mumbai Mirror, “One, they were okay with the fact that I am going to become an actor and then, they were okay that I will not be playing conventional roles. So, then why will they have a problem with me playing this role?”.
“They love me. They don't judge me. This is the beautiful relationship that I have with my family. My parents, my wife and child. They love me and adore me for doing what I am doing”, he added.
Hansal Mehta’s directorial, which is all set to hit the theatres on February 26, is inspired from real life story of Aligarh Muslim University’s professor Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, who was filmed while getting intimate with a man. After the video went viral, the professor was suspended. The film has already been applauded abroad and has received standing ovation at 20th Busan International Film Festival as well as at London Film Festival.
