After debuting in 1984 with Abodh, Madhuri remained a flop-show for three consecutive years. She shot to stardom with N. Chandra's blockbuster Tezaab opposite Anil Kapoor in 1988. She also received her first Filmfare nomination for the best actress for Tezaab. Then she continued enjoying her onscreen chemistry with Anil with Ram Lakhan and Parinda. She stormed the Hindi film industry in the ‘90s with blockbusters like Dil, Saajan, Beta, Khalnayak, Anjaam, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Raja, Yaraana, Mrityudand and Dil To Pagal Hai. She continued her successful journey with Pukar, Lajja, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam and Devdas. After getting married to Shriram Madhav Nene she took a break from films for five years as she relocated to Denver, U.S., with her husband.
In 2007 she returned to films with Aaja Nachle and her performance was highly appreciated by movie critics. Recently Madhuri appeared in two major Bollywood films, Dedh Ishqiya and Gulaab Gang. Madhuri has been remembered for her chartbuster dance numbers like Ek Do Teen, Choli ke peechhe and Channe ke khet mein. Madhuri is said to be the only Bollywood actress who has nominated for Filmfare awards 13 times. Prominent painter M.F. Hussain was so mesmerised with Madhuri’s beauty that he watched her film, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, 67 times reportedly and also booked an entire theatre to watch her Aaja Nachle. He also painted a series of portraits for her. We wish this dancing diva a very Happy Birthday and a prosperous life ahead.
