I Am Very Excited About Shahid Coming On Board For Padmavati: Ranveer Singh
Updated : November 02, 2016 11:45 AM IST A lot has been said and written about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati. The latest was a tiff between powerhouse performers Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. The Baajirao Mastani actor, who is back in the town after completing his upcoming flick, Befikre, opposite Vaani Kapoor, dismissed the rumours.
In a recent interview, Ranveer opened up about his ego clash with Shahid. He said, “At the beginning of the year, Mr Bhansali (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) spoke to me about it, saying, “I want to make a film called Padmavati with you.” I thought it was going to be a beauty versus the beast or the heroine versus the anti-hero kind of story. I was very excited and committed to it. Then I went to shoot for Befikre, while the scripting of Padmavati was on. When I came back and read the script, there was a prominent third part. And I am very excited about Shahid. I think he’s a brilliant actor and an amazing inclusion to our team. He will add immense value”.
Silencing all the rumours, Ranveer has now cleared the air and said that there is no tension between the two stars. Bhansali's next directorial is based on the life of Queen of Chittorgarg, Rani Padmini aka Padmavati. Deepika Padukone will play the queen to Raja Rawal Ratan Singh which will be portrayed by Shahid Kapoor, whereas, Ranveer plays Alaudin Khilji in the flick. The film is slated for a release on November 17 next year.
