Bollywood celebs express disgust at Boston teen who microwaved her turtle to death
Updated : June 01, 2017 01:28 PM ISTA teenager from Boston recently did something unthinkable. She microwaved her pet turtle to death. For fun. And, posted before-and-after pictures of the baby turtle on social media. Tons of reactions poured in almost immediately, with users expressing disgust and outrage, and many directing threats and abuses towards the teen, who was reportedly unrepentant about her actions, and asked people “to get over it.”
Bollywood celebs, known to support animal rights, also took to social media to diss the teen, who later took down her picture post from Facebook, but other users had taken screenshots by then.

“This is monstrous to say the least ! Sick sick sick to my stomach!! Humanity at an all time low ... again (sic),” tweeted actor Anushka Sharma, who is known to be vocal for animal rights. Keen to do her bit for rescued animals, she had recently visited an animal shelter in Rajasthan, spending a day with the animals and their caretakers.

Actor Alia Bhatt called the act “disgusting” on Twitter, adding that the “news needs our attention”, as we humans are “no less than monsters today”.
Echoing similar sentiments, Parineeti Chopra wrote, “What does this even mean! HOW do humans do this!!!!! Goosebumps just reading it (sic).”

Vocalist Shweta Pandit had a message for the abusive teen: “#JonasiaSimpson karma kid karma. Time will get you #ProtectAnimals”, whereas actor Amyra Dastur posted, “Absolutely Sadistic! What kind of human being does this to such a gentle creature?! Age is no excuse for such a cruel act (sic).”
What has got social media even more infuriated is that when informed, the teenager’s mother reportedly laughed the matter off. She, however, later posted an apology on Facebook, saying she doesn’t support animal cruelty.
An online petition that has over 24,007 supporters (at the time of writing the story) has been launched in a bid to get Boston Police Department to press animal cruelty charges against the teenager.
