Actor Yogi Babu seems thrilled about reuniting with Superstar Rajinikanth and director Nelson for Jailer 2. He suggested that Nelson is trying to elevate the humour to another level in Jailer 2. While refusing to reveal more details about the project, he promised that Nelson is now focused on strengthening the humour element in the narrative.

"Nelson cast me in Kolamaavu Kokila, Doctor, Beast, Jailer, and now Jailer 2. Comedy is very difficult. He is also working on a unique comedy portion in Jailer 2," said Yogi Babu. He also quipped about how difficult it has become for filmmakers to protect the details about the cast of their films. He revealed that the filmmakers would officially announce the remaining details of Jailer 2 soon.

Yogi Babu played a comedic sidekick to Rajinikanth's Muthuvel Pandian, a retired police officer, in Jailer. The film was one of the biggest hits in Indian cinema in 2023. It opened amid a lot of uncertainties as both Rajinikanth and Nelson were struggling to strike a chord with audiences with their previous movies. With Beast being a massive critical dud, many questioned Rajinikanth's decision to work with Nelson.

Despite its poor reviews, Beast was a box office success, which led Rajinikanth to take a chance on Nelson. This decision paid off, as Jailer earned more than Rs 600 crore from just theatrical collections, becoming one of the biggest hits in Rajinikanth's career.

The success of Jailer paved the way for the sequel. It seems Nelson is now at the scripting stage, and the project will not go on the floors before next year.

Currently, Rajinikanth is shooting for Coolie, which is helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and he's awaiting the release of Vettaiyan.
