Yash reveals why he refused to shave off his beard for K.G.F Chapter 2, told the director, 'let's not do this'

Actor Yash ’s character Rocky Bhai from K.G.F became immensely popular after the pan-Indian success of the film in 2018. Right from his swag to his look, fans loved Rocky Bhai through and through and now as he returns for K.G.F Chapter 2 , Yash has spoken about how he was asked to shave off his beard for the new film by filmmaker Prasanth Neel and he refused.

Yash was asked in an interview about being asked to go beardless for K.G.F Chapter 2 said he didn’t think it would be good idea. Yash explained how he couldn’t imagine his character Rocky Bhai without a beard but also added that his personal love for keeping a beard prevent him from going through with the idea.

He told Galatta Plus, “I can’t imagine the character without a beard. Plus, I personally love beard so that is also one reason. You get into one mode where you say this is the character and these are the changes and if it is not required, forcefully you shouldn’t do. So, he [Prasanth Neel] wanted me to present and do this thing, if it was one film like we had planned, probably I would have done it. But when it went into two parts, the whole first chapter they have enjoyed him as a bearded guy and then all of a sudden in the second half you take it off, they will definitely miss that character so I insisted.”

Yash obviously didn’t dismiss the idea of his director immediately but he did put his best foot forward to convince him. Recalling going for shoot on the day he was supposed to trim his beard, Yash added, “In fact, I went that day we were supposed to trim by beard and just before that I said, ‘I think something tells me let’s not do it. Let’s have him the way he is.’ Because he has to wear suits and all and I said, he’s not trying to look smart, let him wear the best outfits in the world but he should like a Rocky who doesn’t care. Of course, it is the character that he has etched but as an actor I convinced him. I said one day we will shoot, if you’re not happy then we will remove it. Then that’s it he said ‘You are looking great with the beard’, the suit part he was a little concerned with.”

Yash will be joined in the bigger and hopefully better K.G.F 2 by actor Sanjay Dutt who plays Adheera, the main antagonist. Also starring in the film is actress Raveena Tandon in a crucial role.

K.G.F Chapter 2 arrives in cinemas on April 14.
