Yash breaks the silence on Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi being part of Toxic: 'It's a great cast...'

Kannada superstar Yash, known for his high-octane action film KGF: Chapter 2, is taking a different path with his next film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups.

Kannada superstar Yash's previous movie, KGF: Chapter 2, was a testosterone-filled action film dominated by male characters, with their bruised egos pushing them to commit extreme acts of violence. In contrast, his upcoming movie Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups seems to feature a predominantly female supporting cast, which is no surprise given that the film is written and directed by Geetu Mohandas.

There has been speculation that Toxic is a gangster story told from a woman's perspective. While this remains a fan theory or industry rumour at this stage, Yash has confirmed that Toxic includes an ensemble cast featuring some of the top female actors from across the country.

When an interviewer asked Yash to comment on the rumoured involvement of Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, and Huma Qureshi in Toxic, he feigned ignorance and requested a little more time to officially unveil their characters, rather than casually revealing the entire cast in an interview. "It's a great cast," he told Hollywood Reporter India. When pressed further, he added, "Yes, there are strong women characters," hinting at surprises for the audience that will be revealed at the right time.

Yash also noted that the fact that A-list actors have come together for Toxic is a testament to their belief in the script, suggesting evolving trends in the industry. "All fantastic actors have come together for a purpose. I don't think it would have happened if the script wasn't that good."

He further clarified that he doesn't think in terms of balancing the cast with prominent roles for men and women, as it's the story that dictates the ratio of characters.

"I only look at the story, and I don't bring my personal politics into it. When we were making KGF, we were focused on finding the best possible way to tell that story. I don't care about giving more prominence to women or anything like that. There are certain parameters within which a story needs to be told. With Toxic, it's not a conscious effort to bring in a lot of female characters. It’s organic. The drama in this movie needs that kind of character mix. So, it's a fantastic combination of great characters and actors," he added.
