Dulquer Salmaan is on the brink of a milestone he narrowly missed with King of Kotha. His latest film, Lucky Baskhar, has taken the box office by storm, emerging as his biggest opening weekend hit to date. Released last week during Deepavali celebrations, the film is riding on strong word of mouth and impressive ticket sales across India and abroad. It has already become Dulquer's biggest opening weekend grosser.

This marks Dulquer's third consecutive hit in Telugu cinema, following Mahanati and Sita Ramam, solidifying his status as a bankable star in the industry. Lucky Baskhar earned an estimated Rs 50 crore globally in its first four days, surpassing the opening weekend revenue of Dulquer's previous blockbuster, Kurup (2021).

The film grossed Rs 19 crore in its first four days in the Telugu states alone, including Wednesday premieres. Despite competition from Sivakarthikeyan's Amaran in Tamil Nadu, Lucky Baskhar has held steady, performing well across regions. In Tamil Nadu, it has shown steady growth since its opening and managed to retain screens over other releases like Bloody Beggar and Brother.

While Amaran remains dominant in Tamil Nadu, Lucky Baskhar has achieved a remarkable break-even point and continues to see high weekday occupancy. In Kerala, the Telugu original has also performed impressively, generating around Rs 9 crore, while North America’s Telugu diaspora contributed close to Rs 6 crore. Dulquer's popularity in the Gulf region has added over Rs 6 crore, bringing the movie’s opening weekend total to an impressive Rs 50 crore, well surpassing its Rs 30 crore budget.

The success of Lucky Baskhar could make it Dulquer's first film to cross Rs 100 crore in global ticket sales. While King of Kotha was anticipated to be his Rs 100 crore milestone, it fell short despite a strong pre-release buzz. Now, Dulquer has unexpectedly struck gold with a film in which he plays a mild-mannered banker who outsmarts the system.

Lucky Baskhar is written and directed by Venky Atluri.
