Will Kangana Ranaut return as Rani in Queen 2? Vikas Bahl spills the beans on a possible sequel

    Kangana Ranaut’s Rani character is etched in every cinephiles’ hearts ever since Vikas Bahl’s Queen hit the screens. While Bollywood is on a sequel season, Queen’s open ending definitely leaves room for a second part, exploring Rani’s life. And yes, director Vikas Bahl also think alike. Much to fans’ delight, the director has given a go-ahead to the possibilities of a sequel.

    Vikas, currently promoting his latest release Ganapath, opened up about his plans for Queen 2. "Every day I wake up with a thought of making Queen 2, and hopelessly, I will definitely announce it someday,” he told Bollywoodlife. On being asked if he will introduce new face, he stated, “ I will not take credit for that; Kangana is a brilliant actress, and I cannot imagine anyone else but only her for Queen 2. I will make the film only with her and no one else".

    Vikas expressed his hope to craft a compelling story that live upto the legacy of the original film. He also added that good word of mouth helped the film get recongnised at the box office too. For the unversed, Queen is a 2014 comedy-drama follows the story of Rani Mehra, who embarks on her honeymoon by herself after her fiancé calls off their wedding.Backed by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Madhu Mantena, the film featured Kangana Ranaut in the lead role, with Lisa Haydon and Rajkummar Rao playing supporting roles.Made on budget of approximately 12 crore, the film surpassed Rs 100 crore-mark upon release at the box office as per reports.

    Meanwhile, Kangana has not yet responded to the ongoing buzz about the possible sequel of Queen. Talking about her work front, she will next be seen in aviation drama Tejas. She also has political drama Emergency in her kitty. On the other hand, Vikas recently directed Ganapath which stars Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon and Amitabh Bachchan. The film hit the theatres today(October 20, 2023) along with Divya Khosla’s Yaariyan 2.
