Dulquer Salmaan is a pan-India star in his own right. He has made significant contributions across various languages in the Indian film industry, steadily building a devoted fan base and expanding his market reach. Most recently, he appeared in a cameo role in this year’s biggest blockbuster, Kalki 2898 AD. Starring Telugu superstar Prabhas in the lead role, the film was written and directed by Nag Ashwin.

Kalki 2898 AD marked Dulquer’s second collaboration with Nag Ashwin, following their 2018 hit Mahanati. In Kalki, Dulquer played a mentor to young Bhairava, appearing in flashback sequences and teaching Bhairava the skills and cunning needed to survive in a dystopian future. Since each character in the film was connected to figures from the Mahabharata, many fans speculated that Dulquer’s role was inspired by Lord Parshuram. While this remains a popular fan theory, Nag Ashwin has yet to comment on it. If true, there is a possibility that Dulquer's character could still be alive, return in Kalki 2, and share screen space with Prabhas.

However, Dulquer expressed uncertainty when asked about his potential involvement in Kalki 2 during promotions for his upcoming film Lucky Baskhar. “What’s in Nagi’s head, only Nagi knows. You need to ask him,” Dulquer said with a smile.

He further revealed that he was likely the last addition to the cast of Kalki, learning about his role only shortly before shooting began. “I shot for the movie in January this year, and the film was released in May,” he shared.

Kalki 2898 AD boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan. Despite receiving mixed reactions from audiences, the film opened to packed theatres and grossed over Rs 1,000 crore worldwide, solidifying its place as one of the biggest hits of 2024.
