Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is one of the hottest directors working in the Indian film industry today. Not only in the South, but top stars across the country seem eager to collaborate with the young director, who is currently juggling multiple high-profile projects. Recently, speculation emerged that Lokesh might soon direct Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan in a new film.
The rumour generated excitement among fans, though no concrete evidence confirmed it. However, comments from Tamil superstar Suriya about his potential collaboration with Lokesh have brought this speculation back into focus.
Suriya recently revealed that he was in talks to play the lead role in Irumbu Kai Maayavi, a superhero movie that Lokesh envisions as his tribute to comic books. But Suriya suggested that the project may not go forward as initially planned.
"In movies, we don’t know when or how things happen. Lokesh and I have discussed two ideas. Irumbu Kai Maayavi is his dream project. I don’t know if it’s coming back to me or if it’ll go to a bigger actor. But the intent to work together is there, and a producer is ready. It just keeps getting bigger for Lokesh,” Suriya told The Hollywood Reporter India, leaving fans wondering whether the role might go to Aamir Khan instead.
Adding to the speculation, rumours suggest that Aamir Khan may make a cameo in Lokesh’s upcoming film Coolie, starring Superstar Rajinikanth. The film already features an impressive cast, including Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, and Soubin Shahir.
Meanwhile, Lokesh has previously revealed plans for a standalone film focused on Rolex, Suriya’s character introduced in Vikram’s climactic scene. Currently, Suriya is busy promoting his upcoming film Kanguva, set for release on November 14.
