Ahead of the release of the Kamal Haasan-starrer Indian 2, the makers of the film have been giving several exciting updates, keeping fans intrigued. While fans await the movie’s release, a new picture of Kollywood superstars Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth has been making waves on social media.

The new picture features Kamal Haasan as Senapathy or Indian ‘thatha’ from his upcoming vigilante action drama Indian 2. Rajinikanth is seen in an ever-stylish look in his upcoming film Vettaiyan. The picture of the Tamil superstars has grabbed the attention of fans, who cannot keep calm watching their favourite stars sharing the same frame, and that too as their characters from their upcoming films.

Fight against injustice: The common thread between Senapathy and Vettaiyan

As we all know, Kamal Haasan’s much-loved character Senapathy from Indian is the flag bearer for anti-corruption and eradicating injustice in society. The 1996 vigilante drama was about an honest veteran who served in the Indian Army who teaches corrupt officials a lesson. Interestingly, Rajinikanth’s cop action drama Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel, is along the same lines—of the leading man fighting social injustice. 

According to reports, Rajinikanth, who plays a cop in Vettaiayan, fights the illegal activities of a corrupt entrepreneur. Recently, actor Rana Daggubati, who reportedly plays the antagonist in the film, revealed that “It's a film between the judiciary, police, and entrepreneurial system. It is quite a well-researched story and it is not a regular Rajinikanth film.”

Now, with two vigilante dramas starring some of the biggest superstars in the country set to be released soon, it sure is going to be a treat at the box office.

Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster, is directed by S Shankar and is set to be released in theatres on July 12, 2024. 

On the other hand, the shooting for Vettaiyan, starring Rajinikanth and directed by TJ Gnanavel, recently wrapped up. The film is gearing up for an October 10, 2024, theatre release worldwide.
