Superman 2
Thanks to a detailed report by The Hollywood Reporter which talks about the current state of the DC cinematic universe after the change of leadership, it seems DC fans have something to be happy about.
According to the report, the studio is actively trying to develop a new Superman movie most likely a sequel to the 2013s Mano fSteel with Henry Cavill returning.
Initially, the studio wanted director Christopher McQuarrie to helm the project however since he is busy with the upcoming Mission Impossible movie and its sequel, they are now preparing a wishlist of directors and writers for the project.
DC Fans can thank Dwayne Johnson who pushed the studio to get Henry Cavill back for a cameo in the upcoming Black Adam movie and a future Superman V Black Adam movie but his pans were nixed by DC Films head Walter Hamada so the actor went around the executive and got his green light from Warner Bros. studio heads Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy.
There is also going to be another Superman project, which will introduce a black Superman by Ta-Nehisi Coates with JJ Abrams serving as producer, this movie will be a standalone project along the same lines as the recent Matt Reeves Batman movie and will be separate from the DCEU.
Meanwhile, Matt Reeves is busy with the sequel to Batman and is also planning or making multiple spinoff shows and movies based on the Dark Knight's rogue gallery such as Scarecrow, Clayface, and Professor Pyg.
Director James Gunn who is working on the second season of Peacemaker also has already pitched another secret project that Gunn would helm to the studio.
According to the report a script for The Flash sequel is already complete and Patty Jenkins is expected to submit the script for Wonder Woman 3 soon.
That is a lot of updates from a studio that has had fans worried for a while now but it's the future, but the studio's plans for Superman are sure to get DC fans excited again especially since Henry Cavill will be reprising his role.
Hopefully, DC will be able to expand its cinematic universe to its full potential for now all fans can do is keep their fingers crossed.
