Vikram Vedha box office
The much-awaited Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan starrer Vikram Vedha was released at the box office yesterday (September 30). And today (October 1) is the day to witness whether the crime flick passed the box office litmus test. Well, the film opened to a double-digit figure but it is obvious that there were a lot more expectations riding on the film.
According to a news report in Bollywood Hungama, Vikram Vedha opened from Rs 11.25 crore to Rs 12.25 crore on its opening day. Now the figures of the actioner on its opening day are quite similar to the opening collections of Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Ranbir Kapoor starrer Shamshera. While Laal Singh Chaddha opened at Rs 11.7 crore, Shamshera minted Rs 10.2 crore at the box office.
Now, we hope Vikram Vedha doesn’t go on to share a similar fate as these two films because everyone is well aware of the fact that Laal Singh Chaddha and Shamshera turned out to be box office duds. It is also a thing to be observed that trade analysts had much higher expectations from the Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan starrer predicting that it will at least garner Rs 14 to 15 crore on its opening day. The actual results are rather underwhelming now.
According to a news report in Box Office India, Vikram Vedha didn’t do well on its first day in states like Maharashtra and Gujarat. The reason behind this can be the movie releasing during the time of the Navratri and Durga Puja festivities. Well, we hope that the movie manages to pick up pace in the coming days, given the expectations riding on it.
Vikram Vedha has been helmed by Pushkar-Gayatri who had also directed the original Tamil film. The movie also stars Radhika Apte , Sharib Hashmi, Rohit Saraf, and Yogita Bihani in pivotal roles. The original film starred R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles.
