Vikram was one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies of the year grossing around five hundred crores at the global box office. the movie starred veteran actor Kamal Haasan in the lead role.

The movie was the second installment in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe(LCU) after the 2019 movie Kaithi which starred Karthi as Dilli a recently released convict who gets dragged into a life-or-death situation by a police officer.

One of the biggest highlights of Vikram was the surprise cameo by Suriya as Rolex, the leader of a global drug cartel and the main antagonist of the Lokesh cinematic universe.

While it was already confirmed that there would be three new additions planned which include Vikram 2, Kaithi 2, and Thalapathy 67 which will introduce Vijay into the LCU and is slated to start production soon.

During this year's roundtable conducted by Film Companion and hosted by Anupama Chopra Lokesh Kanajaraj and Kamal Haasan confronted a fourth spinoff focusing on Suriya's Rolex is also planned.

During the interview, Kanakaraj spoke about the future of the LCU and said "Right now I'm working on a film (Thalapathy 67). After that, I have to sit with Kamal Haasan sir and have a talk first. So It is going to be Vikram 2, Kaithi 2, and probably Rolex."

The franchise has a huge star-studded cast that includes some of the biggest names from the south Indian film industries including Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Suriya, Vijay Sethupathi, Karthi, and Faddah Fazil.

The Rolex spinoff sounds really exciting as it could be a sequel to the franchise or could be set during the events of Kathi or Vikram. and it will be fun to see Suriya play the villain and take on Kamala Haasan's Vikram, Vijay, and Karthi's Dilli on the big screen, no doubt will be one of the biggest cinematic events in the history of the Tamil industry.

Currently, the next project in the franchise will be Vijay's entry into the LCU, which is currently using the working title 'Thalapathy 67'. It was recently confirmed the action star Vishal will be the main antagonist of the movie and we will also get to see Vijay act opposite Trisha after a gap of fourteen years.

Vijay will join the sets of 'Thalapathy 67' after the premiere of his next project 'Varisu', which will hit theaters worldwide on January 12, 2023.
