Vijay to play an ex-cop in H Vinoth’s Thalapathy 69? Here’s what the latest buzz says
Vijay is set to play yet another mature role in his last film Thalapathy 69. Here's everything you need to know about the H Vinoth film.
Vijay
Vijay’s highly anticipated final film, Thalapathy 69 (tentative title), which will mark his farewell to cinema, has undoubtedly become one of the most eagerly awaited films. Director H Vinoth is under considerable pressure from fans and moviegoers to deliver a film that is a fitting farewell for the Tamil superstar.
Although the makers have remained tight-lipped about Vijay’s role in the film, the latest grapevine suggests that the actor will be essaying an ex-cop. Yes, you read that right. The actor, who has recently been taking on more mature roles, is expected to deliver yet another nuanced performance in his final project.
According to sources in Tamil film circles, director H Vinoth has cast Vijay as a former police officer. Vinoth, who earned widespread acclaim for writing a compelling cop role in the Karthi-starrer Theeran Adhigaram Ondru, has raised expectations for crafting an even better police character for Thalapathy Vijay. Will this role leave a lasting impression on audiences, or will it fall short of expectations? Only time will tell! For the unversed, Vijay is not new to cop roles as the superstar has played cop roles earlier in films such as Vettaikaaran, and Jilla to name a few.
Commercial or social drama?
Earlier, the filmmaker had stated that the movie would not be a typical social drama, but rather a complete commercial entertainer. However, recent reports indicate that the film will indeed convey a social message and will be made along the lines of a social drama. With the news of Vijay playing an ex-cop, fans are left wondering whether the movie will be a social drama with commercial elements.
