Kannada producer Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films expressed his excitement after two of his major productions, KGF: Chapter 2 and Kantara, took centre stage at the recently held 70th National Film Awards. Speaking to the media, Kiragandur revealed that an update on the sequel to KGF 2 would be coming sooner than expected.

"In the next four or five months, we will give an update on KGF 3. Discussions are ongoing," Kiragandur said, sparking anticipation among fans.

It’s surprising that Kiragandur is painting such a positive picture of the development of KGF 3, as many had assumed the project was still a distant prospect. Both director Prashanth Neel and Kannada star Yash were believed to be busy with other commitments.

Prashanth Neel’s most recent release was Salaar Part 1, also produced by Hombale Films and starring Telugu superstar Prabhas. Despite mixed reviews, the film was a box office success. Neel was expected to move ahead with Salaar 2, but he has now put that project on hold to helm an entirely new film with Telugu star Jr NTR, backed by Mythri Movie Makers. That project is slated to begin soon, with a release date targeted for January 2026.

It remains to be seen whether Prashanth Neel will tackle Salaar 2 or KGF 3 after completing his film with Jr NTR.

Meanwhile, Yash is currently immersed in shooting for his upcoming film Toxic, written and directed by Geetu Mohandas. The film is expected to hit theatres in April next year.

Kiragandur also shared updates on the eagerly awaited Kantara 2. "The shooting of Kantara 2 is progressing well. Rishab Shetty is handling both acting and directing duties, and the entire team is stationed in Kundapura. Fans can expect to see Kantara 2 by August," he said.

At the National Awards, Kantara won Best Actor (Rishab Shetty) and Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, while KGF 2 was honoured with the Best Feature Film in Kannada award.
