It has been a long wait for fans of Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar to see their favourite star in action on the big screen. Ajith's last release was Thunivu, which came out in January 2023, and his next project faced significant delays with Lyca Productions.
Ajith's upcoming film was initially set to be helmed by director Vignesh Shivan. However, the project fell through after the producers reportedly dismissed Vignesh due to dissatisfaction with his script. It then took a few more months for the producers to finalize director Magizh Thirumeni to lead their next film with Ajith. Titled Vidaamuyarchi, the movie finally went on the floors in October.
Even after production began, Vidaamuyarchi encountered a series of obstacles, including a few months of halted filming. Stunt master Supreme Sundar revealed that the delays were mainly due to difficulties in securing permission for specific shooting locations.
"The director is sculpting Vidaamuyarchi. There are many rumours about the delay in completing the project, but the main reason is the location issues," he shared in a recent interview.
Based on teaser posters released so far, Vidaamuyarchi seems to be a road movie, shot entirely in Azerbaijan.
"Magizh Thirumeni sir will present Ajith in a way that you have never seen before. The entire film will offer you a different feel," Sundar added.
While shooting an action sequence, a car carrying Ajith and his co-actor Aarav toppled and crashed. Both actors emerged unhurt, and production continued as planned. The producers later released a video showing how Ajith calmly handled the car’s toppling, doing his best to keep himself and his fellow passengers safe.
"There were a few real accidents while shooting the movie," Sundar continued, addressing rumours that the incidents were staged for promotional purposes. "We have also incorporated that accident into the action scenes. You will see the movie soon—it will become a big movie. Meanwhile, Adhik Ravichandran's Good Bad Ugly is also a huge commercial entertainer. After Billa, you will witness a very different Ajith in this film," he added.
