Vettaiyan release buzz: Rajinikanth-starrer and Jr NTR’s Devara set to clash at the box office this October? Here’s what we know

Rajinikanth, who stars in TJ Gnanavel’s upcoming directorial Vettaiyan, recently wrapped up the shooting for the upcoming action drama. According to the superstar himself, the film is set for an October release! Rajinikanth’s latest revelation about the release date of Vettaiyan has fans buzzing about its potential clash with Jr NTR’s Devara. 

Vettaiyan to release on October 10?

Rajinikanth, who is currently on his annual spiritual trip to the Himalayas, has revealed the release date of this commercial entertainer. A new clip, that has surfaced on the internet, showcases Rajinikanth interacting with a yogi. In the video, he is seen talking about completing his portions for director TJ Gnanavel's Vettaiyan. He revealed that the upcoming film will release on October 10 during the Dussehra holidays.

“I have completed my portions. The shooting with other members of the cast is still going on. The film will release on October 10 or so,” the superstar revealed. He also spoke about director Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie. “There's a new film as well. I will begin shooting for it from June 10 onwards,” he said. 

Vettaiyan star cast

 Vettaiyan boasts of an ensemble star cast, featuring actors from other industries. Besides Rajinikanth, Vettaiyan also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, Ritika Singh, GM Sundar, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Ramesh Thilak, and Rakshan, among others.

Vettaiyan and Devara clash during Dussehra?

With the exciting new update, Jr NTR’s Devara team finds themselves at a critical juncture. For the unversed, Devara has been scheduled for a worldwide release on October 10, 2024. With Vettaiyan also eyeing the same festive release date, speculation is rife online that Devara might be rescheduled for release on September 27, 2024. Incidentally, this proposed date coincides with the release of Dulquer Salmaan’s Lucky Baskhar. While Lucky Baskhar may not pose a significant threat to Devara, fans now hope for a clash-free release date to ensure a smooth launch for all the big releases. An official confirmation on this is awaited.
