Vettaiyan’s underwhelming reception: What went wrong?

Despite its celebrated star cast, the film—made on a staggering budget of ₹300 crore—struggled to attract audiences, resulting in its failure at the box office. The movie failed to resonate with viewers who had expected a typical Rajinikanth film, with more action and fewer content-driven elements. Due to its lagging pace and monotonous screenplay, the film failed to impress the viewers and managed to earn only ₹250 crore. However, the film still holds the second position among the highest-grossing Tamil films of the year.

With its OTT release, the movie is expected to reach a wider audience.
