Vettaiyan: Meet Swetha aka Abhirami from the Rajinikanth-starrer | WATCH new video

Ahead of the much-awaited Dussehra release, the makers of Rajinikanth's movie Vettaiyan took to social media to unveil the character promo video of actress Abhirami from the upcoming cop drama.

Sharing the promo on social media, the makers wrote, “Introducing @abhiramiact as SWETHA in VETTAIYAN. Witness her powerful performance on screen.”

The new promo reveals behind-the-scenes footage of the Tamil actress from the film, where she is seen interacting with the cast and crew members on set. The makers have remained tight-lipped without revealing much information about the actress’ role in the film. But it has been disclosed that Abhirami will be playing a character named Swetha, who is described as a powerful force in the team. Check out the new character reveal promo here!

The recently released teaser begins by introducing Amitabh Bachchan's character, Sathyadev, who questions why the actions of encounter specialists got untracked despite having many capable officers. Rithika Singh’s character explains that they are seen as heroes for killing wanted criminals. The glimpse introduces Rajinikanth as a stylish cop fighting for justice and also showcases Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Rana Daggubati, and others. The teaser ends with a dramatic courtroom scene where Rajinikanth and Big B face off in an intense sequence.

Earlier speculations suggest that Rana Daggubati will be playing the antagonist in the film, while Fahadh Faasil is rumored to be Rajinikanth’s close aide. Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is said to make an extended cameo appearance as a judge, while Malayalam actress Manju Warrier will be essaying the role of Rajinikanth’s wife.

In addition to Rajinikanth and Abhirami, the film features an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Rithika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Kishore, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Shaji Chen, Ramesh Thilak, Rakshan, and GM Sundar, among others. The music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

Vettaiyan is slated for a grand Dussehra release on October 10, 2024, and will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada.

Abhirami was last seen in the Nani-starrer action drama Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, which is now streaming on Netflix.
