Rajinikanth and TJ Gnanavel’s cop drama Vettaiyan, which was released earlier last week, has been receiving a roaring reception this festive weekend. Featuring a star-studded cast including Rajinikanth, Fahadh Faasil, Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, and Manju Warrier, Vettaiyan has been winning hearts across the country and beyond. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the film continues to top the box office charts. Here’s how much it has collected in just three days:

Vettaiyan box office collection day 3

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Vettaiyan collected approximately ₹32 crore on its opening day and earned around ₹26 crore on day three. The film has successfully surpassed ₹50 crore in Tamil Nadu, with its global collection standing at around ₹145 crore. The Rajinikanth-starrer has already exceeded the lifetime domestic collection of some of the year's top-grossers, including Indian 2 and Raayan, in just three days. However, despite Amitabh Bachchan playing one of the key roles, the film appears to be performing lacklusterly in the Hindi belt. In the days ahead, the film is expected to see more growth in its numbers.

    Vettaiyan’s mixed to positive reception

Rajinikanth's film has garnered praise from audiences for its powerful performances, though many felt that the writing could have been stronger. Some critics expressed disappointment, noting that the film didn't feel like a 'true Rajinikanth film' because the signature mass appeal moments were lacking as compared to the Tamil superstar's previous blockbuster, Jailer. Despite the mixed reviews, fans continue to flock to theaters to see Rajinikanth back in action, donning a cop avatar once again.

    Vettaiyan cast

Helmed by Jai Bhim director T.J. Gnanavel, the cop drama features Rajinikanth as the cop and Rana Daggubati as a cunning entrepreneur. In addition to the lead cast, the film also stars Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Kishore, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Shaji Chen, Ramesh Thilak, Rakshan, and G.M. Sundar in key roles.
